Week 13 – D/ST Rankings

There are some really juicy matchups this week for defenses. Jacksonville obviously stands out. They’re the top ranked defense in football playing a Colts team that has to travel outside of the dome without their star QB whose missed the entire season. But the matchup that stands out to me is the Chargers facing the Browns at home. The Chargers have been on a heater lately, winning 5 of their last 7 games after starting 0-4. The defense has played a huge role. Joey Bosa is a superstar. Through 11 games this season, Bosa has 10.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles already. He also has a great matchup individually. The Browns lost their all-pro LT Joe Thomas earlier this season and his replacement has been struggling. Spencer Drango is second in the NFL with 7 sacks allowed in only started 5 games since Joe Thomas went down. Joey Bosa should have his way with Drango and cause havoc in the backfield. On the other side, Deshone Kizer is ranked 34th in the NFL with a 25.6 QBR when under pressure. There are only 32 teams, meaning there are 2 backups with better ratings. Look for a few sacks and a couple turnovers this week. Also, keep in mind the Chargers’ defense has scored 3 defensive TDs in the last 2 weeks as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if that trend continues this week.

A team that you may want to shy away from this week: the Philadephia Eagles. They are traveling across the country to take on the Seahawks in Seattle. The Eagles have been very dominant on defense the past 4 games, averaging 16.8 fantasy points and have scored in double digits all 4 games. However, all 4 games were against bad offenses; San Francisco, Denver, Dallas (without Ezekiel Elliott), and Chicago. In addition, 3 of the 4 were at home. The Eagles haven’t had to do much traveling lately and they hit a weak spot in the schedule. That changes this week. The Seahawks aren’t as scary as they’ve been in the past, but they’re still a very good team at home, especially offensively. In 5 home games, they’re averaging 28.8 PPG as opposed to 20.3 PPG on the road. Opposing defenses are only scoring an average of 4.4 FPPG when in Seattle. It doesn’t help that Russell Wilson has been playing some of his best football of the season of late.

A sneaky sleeper for Week 13: the Oakland Raiders. They are available in 75.3% of ESPN leagues. Maybe not so sneaky this week, as we’ve all seen the dysfunction swirling around the Giants’ clubhouse. The Raiders will be hosting Geno Smith and the Giants this week. Yes, Geno Smith, that was not a typo. Geno that will be leading an offense that is missing 3 of their top 4 receivers in Odell Beckham, Jr., Brandon Marshall, and Dwayne Harris. Sterling Shepard is likely to make his first start since Week 10. The Giants are also down 3 of their 5 starting offensive linemen in C Weston Richburg, RG Justin Pugh, and RT Bobby Hart. Also, RB Paul Perkins has missed most of the season. Oakland is still fighting for their division, only 1 game behind KC. New York is playing for absolutely nothing. I would not be shocked at all if OAK flirted with a shutout this week with a few sacks and a few turnovers. Geno has been known to make some poor decisions resulting in turnovers in his career. In 34 career games, Smith has thrown 36 interceptions and fumbled 17 times. I think OAK is a very good streaming option this week.

I win just enough to keep playing without having to deposit more money. I love talking about everything fantasy so I created this site in the hopes of helping others dominate their own fantasy leagues!
