Week 14 – WR Rankings

The WR position in the NFL this season has been strong. It’s been the most steady season I’ve seen in a while. There are 39 wide-outs averaging 10.0 or more FPPG in 2017. For most of us that play in 12-team leagues, that’s more than 3 per team. There are plenty of opportunities for fantasy owners to have great production from the WR spots. The top 20-25 of the WR Rankings have remained pretty constant, since most of the top guys have been consistently good all year. There are a few surprises (Robby Anderson) and a few disappointments (Dez Bryant), but all in all, it’s been a very consistent position.

One of the biggest surprises to me has been Larry Fitzgerald. In a year where I thought Father Time might finally take over and slow him down, quite the opposite has occurred. Over the past 2 seasons (2015-2016), he averaged 108 receptions, 1,119 yards, and 7.5 TDs on 147.5 targets. This season, he is on pace to improve each number and just about equal TDs. He’s on pace to catch 109 passes for 1,171 yards and 7 TDs on 155 targets. Very impressive if you combine all that with the fact he’s now catching passes from his third QB of the season. Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton, and Blaine Gabbert have all been able to get the ball to Fitz equally. Each QB respectively relying on him a bit more. With Palmer, Stanton, and Gabbert respectively, Fitz has averaged 15.8 FPPG, 16.7 FPPG, and 18.7 FPPG. The more guys they use at QB, the more they rely on #11. With a great matchup this week with the 24th ranked Titans against opposing WRs, feel confident with Fitz in your lineups, yet again.
