Week 15 – QB Rankings

He’s back. Aaron Rodgers is officially eligible to return and ready to play for the Packers. The team is still waiting for the team doctors to clear him medically, which HC Mike McCarthy said was inevitable and the announcement would be coming this morning. Green Bay is 7-6 and still in the thick of the playoff hunt with back-to-back overtime victories over the Bucs and Browns. With a game with huge playoff implications against Carolina this weekend, Rodgers is back right on time. How effective will he be? I don’t know, but if there’s a QB I’m putting in my lineup anytime he steps on the field; it’s Aaron Rodgers. Even a 75% healthy Rodgers is better than almost everyone else.

You have to feel terrible for Carson Wentz. He was coming down the stretch of a season in which he was the front-runner for the MVP, already clinched the NFC East, and the Eagles were well on their way to the #1 seed in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Late in the game against the Rams, Wentz suffered a torn ACL. The incredible part of the injury was Wentz remained in the game for 4 more plays and threw a TD pass before ultimately being taken to the locker room for the diagnosis. He is one of the most talented QBs the league has to offer, and he’s just another superstar to fall prey to a season-ending injury in 2017. Considering he was the 2nd highest point scorer of fantasy QBs, you may not have had a premiere backup on your teams. I hope you took my advice two weeks ago and stashed Aaron Rodgers. If you did, you still have a great shot to advance through your fantasy playoffs as there’s no real drop off there. If you didn’t, a good QB to stream this week is…

Blake Bortles. Bortles has quietly been on a hot streak. Over the past 3 games, he’s averaging 22.1 FPPG; this past week against a very good Seattle defense. Jacksonville is playing very well right now and Bortles has been a big part of it. In those same 3 games, he’s completing 66.3% of his passes for 245.7 YPG, 6 total TDs and just 1 INT. The Jaguars have a home game against the Texans this week, who rank 29th in the NFL in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs allowing 18.8 FPPG. Blake could be in for another great outing this week. Also, keep in mind, he has matchups against San Francisco and Tennessee to finish out the season, so he could be a good option for the rest of the fantasy playoffs for those in need of a replacement for an injured QB.
