Week 16 – QB Rankings

SuperCam is back. And better than ever. Well, better than the kryptonite-riddled 2016 season, and back to his 2015 NFL MVP form. Cam Newton is back to being one of the most dynamic players in football. Over his last 6 games, he’s been responsible for 13 total TDs, while turning the ball over just one time. Since Week 9, Newton’s averaging 23.3 FPPG, which is second only to Ben Roethlisberger who has scored 23.7 FPPG. As I previously mentioned, he’s back to his dynamic self. That means he’s terrorizing defenses on the ground again, as well. 2016 was a very disappointing season for Newton. He set a career low in rushing yards with 359 last season, lower than his previous career low by 180 yards. The 19:14 TD:INT ratio was also his worst since 2011, his rookie season.

This year, Newton seems to have put these struggles behind him. In 14 games, he’s thrown 21 TDs to 12 INTs. The ground game is back as he has run for 643 yards and needs just 99 yards in the final 2 games to set a new career high, topping the 741 yards he rushed for in 2012. In standard leagues where passing TDs only garner 4 points, ground numbers like these go a very long way for a QB. I believe it is safe to say Newton is must start material as you head into your Fantasy Championships these next 2 weeks.

Here’s the complete QB list for Week 16 (As Denver has not ruled out any of their 3 QB’s, I have included all 3 where they would fall in the list with asterisks by their name. I have also included Aaron Rodgers, although it is likely Green Bay will announce later today that he will be shut down for the final 2 games):

  1. Russell Wilson (SEA) at cowboys
  2. Cam Newton (CAR) vs buccaneers
  3. Tom Brady (NE) vs bills
  4. Alex Smith (KC) vs dolphins
  5. Philip Rivers (LAC) at jets
  6. Drew Brees (NO) vs falcons
  7. Aaron Rodgers* (GB) vs vikings
  8. Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) at texans
  9. Matthew Stafford (DET) at bengals
  10. Blake Bortles (JAX) at 49ers
  11. Kirk Cousins (WAS) vs broncos
  12. Dak Prescott (DAL) vs seahawks
  13. Jared Goff (LAR) at titans
  14. Matt Ryan (ATL) at saints
  15. Nick Foles (PHI) vs raiders
  16. Case Keenum (MIN) at packers
  17. Tyrod Taylor (BUF) at patriots
  18. Jameis Winston (TB) at panthers
  19. Derek Carr (OAK) at eagles
  20. Eli Manning (NYG) at cardinals
  21. Jay Cutler (MIA) at chiefs
  22. Andy Dalton (CIN) vs lions
  23. Joe Flacco (BAL) vs colts
  24. Jimmy Garoppolo (SF) vs jaguars
  25. Marcus Mariota (TEN) vs rams
  26. Trevor Siemian* (DEN) at redskins
  27. Drew Stanton (ARI) vs giants
  28. Mitchell Trubisky (CHI) vs browns
  29. Brock Osweiler* (DEN) at redskins
  30. Deshone Kizer (CLE) at bears
  31. T.J. Yates (HOU) vs steelers
  32. Jacoby Brissett (IND) at ravens
  33. Paxton Lynch* (DEN) at redskins
  34. Brett Hundley (GB) vs vikings
  35. Bryce Petty (NYJ) vs chargers

Be sure to pay attention to the Packers/Broncos QB situations. I’ll make it a little easier, don’t start any Broncos QB, regardless of who’s playing. But for Aaron Rodgers, he’s starting in most cases if he’s active.

As always, leave your thoughts and give us a follow!
